Christian recording artist Mandisa has been laid to rest after she was found dead in her Tennessee home on April 18th. The news sent shock waves through the music industry as her passing was announced on social media.

The Grammy Award winning singer gained national attention as a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol in 2006, where she showcased her powerful voice and infectious personality. Though she did not win the competition, finishing in ninth place, her career took off from there.

Mandisa embarked on a successful music career releasing her first album “True Beauty,” in 2007, which debuted at the top of the Christian music chart. Some of her most popular songs include “Overcomer,” “Stronger,” “Good Morning,” and “Bleed the Same.”

Mandisa’s music includes messages of hope, empowerment, and faith. In addition to her music, she’s known for her advocacy of body positivity and self-acceptance, having been open about her own struggles with weight, self-esteem, and depression.

The Franklin Police Department released a statement saying, “At this time, there is no indication the death was the result of suspicious or criminal activity.” Mandisa’s father spoke out at her memorial in regards to rumors swirling about his daughters death. He stated, “It is believed that a fall may have caused Mandisa’s death.” He also revealed she suffered from severe fatigue after contracting Covid-19. He stressed that she did not harm herself and no signs of self harm were discovered.

Mandisa was an amazing recording artist. Her music will live on and continue to comfort and encourage others. Mandisa was 47 years old.
