On this day, August 24, 1963, singer, songwriter and musician Stevie Wonder became the first recording artist to have the number one album on Billboard as well as the number one single. This milestone occurred when he was only 13 years old.

Stevie Wonder’s album, “The 12 Year Old Genius, and his single, “Fingertips” both hit the top spot on Billboard within the same week.

Stevie Wonder, whose birth name is Stevland Hardaway Morris, was born in Saginaw, Michigan. Wonder is widely regarded as one of the most influential and iconic figures in the music industry.

He became blind shortly after his birth due to complications from being born prematurely. Despite his visual impairment, Wonder showed an extraordinary musical talent from a young age. He signed with Motown Records at the age of 11 and released his first album, “The Jazz Soul of Little Stevie,” in 1962.
