Ronald and Ernie Isley, known as the legendary group The Isley Brothers, are set to receive their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. After being in the music industry for over 67 years, the group is finally being presented with the well-deserved honor.
The ceremony will feature several guest speakers, including Sony Music Publishing Chairman and CEO Jon Platt and producer Terry Lewis. The iconic groups’ accolades include the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductions, just to name a few.
The Isley Brothers, originally from Cincinnati, OH, were formed in 1954 as a trio with brothers O’Kelly, Rudolph, and Ronald, with Vernon ultimately joining the group until his untimely death in 1955. The younger Isley Brothers, Ernie and Marvin, later joined, turning the Isley trio into a complete band. They achieved success with hits like “Shout,” “This Old Heart of Mine,” and “It’s Your Thing.” After multiple line-up changes, Ronald and Ernie achieved mainstream success as a duo with albums “Mission to Please,” “Eternal,” and “Body Kiss.” They also had over a dozen chart-topping hits, including “Between the Sheets” and “Contagious.”
The group’s unwavering longevity spans over 60 years, with 18 million records sold in the U.S., landing them in the Guinness World Records as the only musical act to hit the Billboard Hot 100 with new music in six consecutive decades.
The Isley Brothers continue to evolve with the changing musical trends while remaining relevant throughout multiple generations.
