Many indie artists today are beginning to deviate from the standard song length and are releasing tracks of much shorter lengths. Additionally, some of the songs are not arranged according to the standard 16-bar, hook, 16-bar, hook, bridge, verse, and hook structure. This is not a negative, but it could be a chosen strategy of Rice to do something different. There are no rules to creativity. All recording artists, including Rice, are free to use their creative style in any manner they please.
Love Shouldn’t Cost A Thing wrapped up with the hot track “Starvin.” This was the perfect song to end the album. The lyrics were once again amazing. Rice put his heart into this one. “Reputation on the line can’t afford no loss” is one of the lines in the track, and Rice scored a big win with this album.
