On this day, November 3, 1990, Robert Van Winkle AKA, Vanilla Ice set a milestone. His song “Ice Ice Baby”, became the first rap song to top the U.S. singles chart. It later hit the top spot on music charts in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, Australia, and Belgium.

“Ice Ice Baby” was Vanilla Ice debut single and his biggest hit. The song sampled the bassline of “Under Pressure” by the rock group Queen. Ice Ice Baby was the lead single off the album To the Extreme.
