An investigation is underway after an incident at the SUMMER614 festival in Columbus, Ohio, resulted in a fan being hospitalized with a head injury.
Atlanta-based rapper Lil Scrappy was on stage performing when a fan ran through the crowd and attempted to get on stage. As the man was running up the steps to the stage, a member of the stage personnel forcefully pushed the man backwards. In a video released of the incident, the man is seen flying through the air and landing on the pavement below. Upon impact, the man struck his head, which caused bleeding and loss of consciousness for several minutes.
The incident left many who witnessed the man’s injury in shock. Lil Scrappy also stopped mid-performance to ensure the man received the necessary medical attention. He is also heard in the video telling people around the injured man not to move him and to wait for the paramedics. A young lady on stage with Lil Scrappy was also heard saying, “We need some help over here real fast.”
No arrests have been made, and no charges are expected to be filed against the stage personnel who pushed the fan. It is considered trespassing for someone to attempt to get on stage without being invited.
Rumors are circulating on social media saying the man died on the scene, but authorities have confirmed that the man is alive and in the hospital in stable condition. No other information surrounding his name or why he attempted to get on stage has been release.
