The largest fast food restaurant chain in the United States, McDonalds, is under fire due to an ecoli outbreak linked to its quarter pounder. The latest numbers report that at least 90 people have reported illness and 1 person has died. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most likely cause of the deadly outbreak is believed to be the silvered onions served on the quarter pounder. The Department of Agriculture has come to this conclusion after ruling out the quarter pounder beef was the source of the outbreak and testing the silvered onions. The onions were distributed by Taylor Farms based in California. McDonalds has now ceased using Taylor Farms as a vendor for produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McDonalds has resumed selling the Quarter Pounder\u2019s but have removed silvered onions from their inventory at this time. KFC, Taco Bell, Burger King, and Pizza Hut have removed onions from their menus as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reported illnesses linked to the McDonald\u2019s quarter pounder were sold at restaurants across 13 states with most cases in Nebraska, Montana, and Colorado. <\/p>\n\n\n
