Comedy icon Reynaldo Rey, who mentored a new generation of comics, will be featured in an upcoming 3-part documentary series. <\/p>\n\n\n

Harry Reynolds, AKA Reynaldo Rey, was born January 27, 1940, in Oklahoma. He later moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he became a teacher. But comedy was his true calling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rey was mentored by some of comedy\u2019s best, including the gentleman who discovered him, Redd Foxx, as well as Richard Pryor. He also rubbed shoulders with \u2018Dolemite,\u2019 Rudy Ray Moore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early on in his career, Reynaldo Rey was widely known for his recurring role as the mailman on television\u2019s 80’s sitcom, 227. He later co-hosted BET’s Comic View for multiple seasons, and he played memorable roles in films like House Party 3 and Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His unique talent for making people laugh led to the creation of the documentary, The Reynaldo Rey Story: The Unforgettable Legend. It takes you through the life and career of the legendary comic. Directed by Marcus Head of MHeadFilm Productions, it features production by Reynaldo\u2019s family. His son Todd Murphy, grandson Michael \u2018Murf\u2019 Rey, cousin Deuandra T Brown, and actor Clifton Powell. Marla Gibbs, Rey\u2019s 227 co-star, will narrate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comics and actors interviewed for the documentary include Katt Williams, Sinbad, Ali Sadiq, George Wallace, Luenell, Tommy Chung of Cheech & Chung, Joe Torry, Marsha Warfield, Retha Jones, Melanie Comarcho, Stacy Hall, Scruncho, Myra J, Greg Carter, Bruce Bruce, Rodney Perry, George Wilburn, Miss Laura Hayes, Roy Fegan, Michael Colyar, Don \u2018DC\u2019 Curry, Tasha Scott, Cocoa Brown, Tommy Davidson, Corey \u2018Zoo Man\u2019 Miller, TP Hearns, Hal Williams, Pierre, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n

Reynaldo Rey was a giver and did his part by passing down the knowledge he learned. He mentored Marsha Warfield, Robin Harris, and Katt Williams, to name a few. Reynaldo showcased his journey through the world of comedy as only he could. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reynaldo Rey passed away on May 28, 2015 due to complications from a stroke he suffered in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look out for The Reynaldo Rey Story \u2013 The Unforgettable Legend<\/strong>. It is set to hit streaming platforms soon, but no official word of which platform as of yet.<\/p>\n\n\n
