Calvin LeBrun, AKA DJ Mister Cee, was born August 17, 1966, in Brooklyn NY. He was a prominent DJ, radio personality, and producer. He’s is most widely known for his work in the New York hip-hop scene, particularly as a member of the radio station Hot 97.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mister Cee learned how to DJ at a young age from his uncle Barry and was raised by his grandparents. He joined a crew named DJ Knight and Knights of Hollywood, and was also a member of the \u201cJuice Crew\u201d alongside rapper Roxanne Shante. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While in high school Mister Cee met and ultimately became the official DJ for his high school friend, who later became famed rapper Big Daddy Kane, and worked on his debut album, \u201cLong Live the Kane\u201d. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mister Cee, along with his late childhood friend DJ 50 Grand are credited for working with the late Notorious BIG as executive producers on Biggie\u2019s debut album \u201cReady to Die\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mister Cee became well known in the early 1990s as a radio DJ with shows on HOT97 and WBLS that showcased rising artists. He spent 21 years on Hot 97 before moving on to 94.7 \u201cThe Block\u201d which would become popular on SiriusXM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mister Cee’s influence on the New York radio scene helped kick-start the careers of Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and Alicia Keys to name a few. \u00a0While the cause of death has not been publicly revealed, his contribution to the Hip Hop culture and his legacy will not go unnoticed. Mister Cee was 57 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n
