Hip-hop artist Mac Lolo is no stranger to music. For over two decades, he’s been grinding his way to the top, releasing music with a message. Though he was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, ripping the stage, dropping flawless bars, is his home. Music has always been his passion, and he’s committed to it long-term because, in his words, “I still have a lot to offer the game<\/em><\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mac Lolo has been a lyricist since high school. He began recording music around 2005 with a crew and later transitioned to a solo journey. One of the producers he worked with from the crew is still producing music with him today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Growing up, Mac Lolo was surrounded by music. His parents were into Motown, and it was consistently played in his household. From Smokey Robinson to Rick James and blues singers like B.B. King and Johnny Taylor, those early influences helped shape his appreciation for different styles of music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike many artists, Mac Lolo does not build his music around a tough or gangster image. He says he had a good upbringing and prefers to rap about his own experiences instead of creating stories that do not reflect his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mac Lolo is not only creative with his music but also with his album names and song titles. His debut album, 1,000 Proof<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, was released in 2015. He stated that the album introduced listeners to who he is as an artist. It represented his style, ideas, thoughts, emotions, and taste in music. The album 1,000 Proof<\/em><\/a><\/strong> got its title because he viewed himself as being “the strongest on the shelf” and wanted the album to reflect that confidence. In January 2026, he re-released the project with additional tracks as a tribute to the album’s producer following his passing. The album is available on all major streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mac Lolo describes his music as versatile, with each project reflecting different thoughts, emotions, and experiences. His follow-up album, Cirrosis<\/em><\/strong>, has already received positive feedback. The title Cirrosis<\/strong> <\/em>continues the concept that began with 1,000 Proof<\/em><\/strong>.<\/a> Mac Lolo explained that if someone has too much 1,000 Proof, it will eventually lead to cirrhosis. He compares the idea to the music industry, saying the album represents “cirrhosis of the game.” He also points out that songs like “No Fatigue<\/a>“<\/strong> and “Sweat<\/a>“<\/strong> fit into the concept as symptoms, while the album ends with what he describes as the recovery stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
